ACL Kodachromes Part XI
It has been some time since I posted new Kodachrome images from the growing ACL collection. This is due in part to the process taking a very long time from start to finish. The lull is partly because I haven’t found any slides worth buying recently. This batch centers mostly on a family trip around Colorado (the truck there says Hartsel, Colorado) and through to the Hoover dam (not pictured). It is amazing to me how many similar photos people of this era took. The only thing missing from this set (that has been present in all previous sets) is a image of someone fishing. Regardless, this whole set of slides was worth it just to get the above image. Beautiful Americana right there.

WWII Postage Meter Stamps
Its the little things in life that are interesting. I bet you never even thought about postage meter stamps, well that means you are missing out on the Meter Stamp Society. This is one small dorky step above collecting coins (sorry Robbie), or even actual stamps. Some of my favorite WWII varieties below.

Related Posts::A Detailed Look J.Crew Men’s Shop on Madison
The J.Crew men’s shops are best experienced in person, but I thought that instead of documenting the new store on Madison Avenue (at 79th Street) in the usual manner, it would be cool to team up with Mr. Sean Sullivan to put a little video tour together. If you don’t live in New York and were curious what this whole J.Crew men’s thing was all about, I think this gives you a good impression of what the company is doing. If you do live in New York and are too lazy to go that far uptown, this will save you $2.25 in train fare. I’m impressed with what J.Crew is doing and like it or not, you have to salute a company that is giving guys their own shopping experience, separate from the ladies.

Not as omnipresent as Filson bags but just as authentic, J.W. Hulme has been making high quality leather and canvas in Minnesota for over 100 years. The company is probably best known for selling its waspy wares to outdoorsy outfitter Orvis in the late 80s and 90s. Eventually,Breaking News, the relationship with Orvis came to an end, but J.W. Hulme continues to supply nice looking and well made goods in their unique style. It goes without saying that the goods don’t come cheap and that there are companies out there making similar products, but with J.W. Hulme you are paying for high end materials and fabrication. These bags require more of an investment up-front, but I have to think they will literally last a lifetime. If I were you I would start breaking one in now, your son will thank you.

Shopping London Levisons of Cheshire Street
While perusing the madness of Brick Lane in East London a few weeks ago I stopped into the vintage shop called Levisons on Cheshire Street. The tidy little outpost has a nice selection of men’s and women’s vintage on offer with lots of what you’d want from a good British vintage shop — schoolboy scarves, tweedy accessories of every want, country brogues and nearly an entire rack of well worn Barbour coats. Those coats almost almost fall under the classification as ‘tattered’ (and I mean that in the best possible), but considering the way Barbours are made,Monster Beats Studio Lebron Jame, they will probably last quite a while longer. Everyone working in the shop was welcoming and knowledgeable, making it even more enjoyable to look through every single item on hand and maybe even take some of it home.
